The Umshato WeSintu Art Exhibition
The Umshato WeSintu Art Exhibition is a cultural exhibition portraying an African marriage process through pictures, paintings, sculptures and other artefacts. The aim of the exhibition is to immerse guests in an educational and entertaining celebration of African culture with a special focus on marriage in Xhosa custom.
The art exhibition is a storytelling adventure that seeks to inspire viewers to reflect on the beauty of the African customs that shape the process of uniting two families through marriage. The art pieces on display express traditions that have been preserved to this day and are still deeply rooted in Xhosa culture.
The purpose of the auction is two fold. The first is to promote the work of upcoming African Artists by showcasing their work in an unusual but captive exhibition space (a wedding). the second is to raise funds for the Themba & Yolanda Nobanda Foundation that raises funds to educate and support orphaned children. Proceeds from this auction will therefore be donated to the xxxx Orphanage in xxxx, Eastern Cape.
